Why Mulch Your Garden

One afternoon's work that saves you time for the rest of the year.

Suppresses Weeds

A good 5–7cm layer blocks light from weed seeds below, so you spend less time on your hands and knees with a hoe.

Locks in Moisture

Mulch slows evaporation from the soil surface, so beds and borders hold water far longer through dry spells.

Feeds and Insulates

As bark breaks down it adds organic matter to the soil, while the layer itself protects roots from summer heat and winter cold.

Delivery or Collection

Delivered Direct to your home or site, or collect from our Kent yard — with discounted rates on three cubic metres or more.

Which Bark Should You Choose?

All three do the same job — the difference is look, longevity and price.

Ornamental Bark 0–75mm

Our most popular mulch — a great-looking natural bark that lifts any border. Use it as a protective layer to suppress weeds and hold moisture, and it works just as well on paths.

Deluxe Pine Nuggets

A chunky 100% pine bark nugget of the highest quality. Being large, the nuggets break down much more slowly than finer barks, so they last for years — with almost no white wood for a clean, uniform finish.

Woodland Mulch

The economy option, made from the wood chip and twigs of a wide range of tree species. Perfect for larger areas, tree pits, vegetable plots and any bed where budget matters more than a uniform look.

Big display beds and front borders suit ornamental bark, low-maintenance shrubberies last longest with pine nuggets, and large or practical areas are best value in woodland mulch.

Loose or Bulk Bags?

Same bark, two ways to take it — plus collection if you'd rather collect.

Loose Loads

Tipped straight from the lorry, loose is the cheapest way to buy in volume and ideal for large borders, tree lines and whole-garden projects. Three cubic metres or more comes with a discounted delivered rate — you just need somewhere to tip it.

Bulk Bags

A cubic metre in a bulk bag is easier to move around the garden and keeps the load tidy where space is tight — perfect for topping up borders a barrow at a time. Collection from our yard is available on both.

How to Mulch in 3 Steps

Do it once properly and it keeps working all year.

1

Weed and Water First

Clear any existing weeds and give the ground a thorough soak before you mulch. Mulch over dry soil and you'll lock the dryness in — over weeds and you'll simply hide them.

2

Spread 5–7cm Deep

Aim for 5–7cm across beds and borders. Measure the area in metres first, multiply by the depth you want, and you have your cubic metres — our bark calculator does it for you.

3

Keep It Off Stems

Leave a gap around trunks, stems and crowns so they can breathe and water can reach the roots. Top up in spring or autumn to keep the colour and the coverage.

Not Sure Which Bark or How Much?

Tell us the size of your borders and what's growing there, and we'll work out the volume and point you to the right mulch.
